Co-Founder + CEO - Redivivus Inc. (Present)

In response to the battery end-of-life challenges many Electric Goddess clients faced from previous battery designs, Erika searched the industry to find solutions. It became apparent that battery recycling was at the beginning of a needed industry with much room for development and innovation. She regularly speaks with investors and partners and manages company strategy for the emerging startup.

Program Manager - Romeo Power + BorgWarner

Erika helped a California-based li-ion startup operationalize a battery manufacturing environment and manage cross-functional teams, including joint venture operations with BorgWarner. Erika co-developed leading-edge UL testing and industry standards. Co-inventions include:

  • Cell test experiments.
  • Cylindrical battery module designs.
  • Cost-effective prototype to production projects in response to Tier 1 RFQs.

Her methods are utilized today in the electrification effort of the automotive industry.

Supply Chain Management - SpaceX (Dragon Capsule)

Erika guaranteed compliance to the NASA contract by co-creating a process to implement supplier diversity requirements into Warp Drive (ERP) for the Dragon capsule.

3:20 p.m.–4:00 p.m. Pacific: Charging Advancements and Battery Safety

Safely charging batteries in a reasonable time requires the thoughtful design of the battery by the OEM. We will talk about a healthy battery's environmental, thermal, and runaway prevention testing considerations for design. Our discussion will cover trade-offs between popular design concepts and charger to vehicle interfaces. We will end our talk on the collaboration humanity needs to charge forward with EVs.

Takeaways:

  • Prevention of fires starts with battery design
  • Higher or lower battery system voltage trade-offs
  • How to determine a cell safe maximum charge rates
  • Power-sharing to form a charging utopia
