Electric Era is Your EV Charging Partner, Not Just a Provider

Electric Era is more than just an EV charging station provider. They offer comprehensive, end-to-end support, partnering with enterprise retailers to deliver a seamless and reliable charging experience for customers and drivers. Their goal is to transform EV charging into a valuable asset that drives success for their partners, removing the typical challenges that come with installing and maintaining charging infrastructure. Electric Era is on a mission to decarbonize and electrify transportation by powering all EV charging for retailers.

Challenges with Traditional EV Charging Solutions

EV charging stations can be a great tool for attracting customers, but they often come with their own set of headaches. Slow charging speeds, expensive grid upgrades, and the need for multiple contractors to keep everything functioning properly are common issues. Electric Era reimagines the EV charging experience by offering reliable, efficient, and simplified solutions that eliminate these problems.

Streamlined and Simplified Setup

Electric Era’s EV charging stations are designed to streamline the process from installation to operation. Businesses can get up and running in just 6-8 months, without the need for significant grid upgrades or expensive delays. This fast deployment can reduce operational costs by up to 90%, making it a cost-effective solution for businesses. The stations are also designed to integrate smoothly into any business environment, providing a hassle-free experience for both business owners and customers.

Designed to Boost Your Brand

Each Electric Era charging station is not just a piece of infrastructure, but an opportunity to enhance a business’s brand. With customizable features, including a 32-inch screen on each station, businesses can display ads, discounts, and loyalty programs directly to customers. This helps create a deeper, more meaningful relationship between businesses and their customers.

Electric Era’s stations also offer exceptional performance, with 98%+ uptime per port and 92% session reliability. Their technology ensures that businesses offer a consistently great experience to every customer, making EV charging a key part of their service offering.

Comprehensive Support Every Step of the Way

Unlike many other providers that set up the stations and walk away, Electric Era remains a dedicated partner throughout the entire process. From installation and site planning to ongoing maintenance and performance tracking, their expert team supports businesses every step of the way. They are dedicated to helping retailers attract new customers, grow market share, and scale their operations to meet demand.

How It Works

Schedule a Consultation: Retailers begin by consulting with Electric Era’s team of experts to discuss their unique needs.

Customized Deployment Plan: Electric Era creates a tailored plan to deploy EV charging stations across the retailer’s locations.

Deployment: In just 6-8 months, Electric Era’s stations are up and running, ready to provide reliable service to customers.

Two Flexible Operating Models

Electric Era offers two operating models to suit different business needs:

Direct Ownership: A fully outsourced, turnkey solution where retailers take full control as the sole stakeholder.

Site Host: For businesses that aren’t ready to own, this model allows them to rent out their parking spaces and receive guaranteed lease payments.

What Customers Are Saying

Electric Era’s customers have praised both the performance of their products and the level of support provided by their team. Shawn Ward, Co-Founder of QuikCharge, highlighted the stability and reliability of Electric Era’s products, as well as the knowledgeable and capable team. EVinfo.net’s Interview with Electric Era Leadership Team

About the Interviewees

Quincy Edmund Lee, CEO and Founder: Prior to founding Electric Era, Quincy spent seven years at SpaceX as a mechanical engineer, primarily working on the Starlink constellation program. In 2020, he founded Electric Era to make EV fast charging ubiquitous, affordable, and reliable.

Lang Reynolds, VP of Site Implementation: Lang brings over a decade of experience in the EV charging industry. He previously led electrification strategy at Duke Energy and managed public charging for Circle K North America, where he oversaw the deployment of 200 sites across the US and Canada.

The Interview

Bill Pierce:

What makes Electric Era different from other charging providers?

Quincy: We’re a solutions provider that offers a complete, end-to-end charging station product. We’re not just the charger or just the backend software system – we’re the whole package. Our software runs and controls every component at about 20 milliseconds, which allows us to monitor and manage everything from payment terminals to power modules in real-time. This integrated approach helps us achieve 98.5%+ uptime per port and 92% session reliability.

Bill Pierce:

Could you explain your battery-backed charging solution?

Quincy: Our system can reduce grid requirements by about 67% per charging station, even at full utilization. We size our charging stations so they become port-limited before they become energy-limited. This means all stalls can be filled while still delivering full rated power to drivers. We use a modular battery approach, allowing us to add additional batteries if needed for specific site requirements.

Bill Pierce:

How does Electric Era approach site deployment?

Lang: Speed to power is a huge part of our value proposition. Our battery-backed solution and sizing allow us to minimize service requirements from utilities, which cascades throughout the deployment process. We focus on both attention to detail and urgency, which has helped us achieve notably fast deployment times, even in challenging jurisdictions like California.

Bill Pierce:

What’s your approach to reliability and uptime?

Quincy: We measure both per-port uptime and session reliability. While uptime tells us if a station is operational and powered on, session reliability measures whether a charging session starts immediately when a customer plugs in. Our software monitors every component and can automatically fix about 95-97% of issues. For hardware failures, we’re immediately notified and can dispatch technicians with the necessary parts.

Bill Pierce:

How do you handle payment processing at your stations?

Quincy: We’ve prioritized making payment as simple as possible – just plug in, tap your card, and walk away. There’s no need to download an app or upload funds beforehand. We selected our payment terminal hardware carefully after noting reliability issues with common industry solutions, and our software is deeply integrated with the payment system to ensure consistent operation.

Bill Pierce:

What types of locations work best for your charging stations?

Lang: We look at what we call “port deficiency” – the ratio between EVs in an area and available charging infrastructure. Some of our best-performing sites are in areas with significant EV populations but limited charging options. We’ve found that retail adjacency is crucial – locations with good amenities that take about 20-45 minutes to enjoy, which aligns well with typical charging session durations.

Bill Pierce:

What’s your vision for NEVI (National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure) program implementation?

Quincy: While there’s currently a 90-day pause period for review, we expect NEVI funds to continue being appropriated to states. Our battery-backed solution is particularly well-suited for NEVI sites, as demonstrated by our recent success in New Mexico where we completed the state’s first NEVI site ahead of schedule, even with significant utility infrastructure upgrades required.

Bill Pierce:

How are you approaching future growth and scaling?

Lang: We’re rapidly expanding from individual sites to handling hundreds of deployments in the near future. Our modular approach allows us to scale up site capabilities as needed, and we’re actively hiring across deployment and other areas to support this growth. For example, our NEVI sites in California will be significantly larger than our early deployments, and we’re prepared to handle that increased scale.
