About This Session
As demand for EV charging infrastructure grows, reliance on traditional grid capacity alone may not be sufficient to meet the energy needs of new charging installations. This workshop will explore how integrating onsite renewable power generation can help supplement grid capacity, providing more reliable and cost-effective energy solutions for EV charging stations.
Attendees will learn the fundamentals of distributed energy resources (DERs), including how renewable generation can reduce energy costs, enhance resilience, and optimize charging station operations. The session will also cover the benefits of using storage systems, such as batteries, to manage energy flow and ensure that renewable energy can be leveraged during peak demand periods or grid outages.
Key topics include:
- Introduction to Onsite Renewable Energy Solutions: Understanding how renewable technologies can be integrated with EV infrastructure to reduce grid dependency.
- Microgrids and Distributed Energy Resources (DERs): Explore how microgrids and DERs can provide flexibility and resilience by balancing energy generation and consumption across a site.
- Energy Storage and Peak Load Management: Learn how batteries and energy storage systems can optimize renewable energy use, manage peak demand, and improve the reliability of EV charging operations.
- Financial and Environmental Benefits: Assess the economic viability of incorporating renewables, including potential cost savings, incentives, and the environmental impact of reducing reliance on fossil fuel-generated grid power.
By the end of this workshop, participants will understand how to leverage on-site renewable power generation to enhance their EV charging infrastructure, improve energy efficiency, and reduce long-term operating costs.
