Director of Decarbonization
Soulful Synergy, LLC.

Will ‘WD’ Scherle is based out of Brooklyn, New York and is currently the Director of Decarbonization for Soulful Synergy, a workforce development firm specializing in construction, clean energy, and OSHA Trainings. Mr. Scherle has over 15 years of experience in decarbonization and has helped implement electrification strategies for some of the largest organizations in the world. To increase EV adoption in New York, Mr. Scherle and Soulful Synergy developed a one-of-a-kind Transportation Electrification Training. This training was awarded funding to be delivered remotely and asynchronously, to teach individuals how to charge electric vehicles, conduct site feasibility assessments, and determine each site’s charging needs. The training is 100% FREE for all New Yorkers and has already helped individuals and organizations learn the benefits of EV’s, available sources of funding, and why increasing EV adoption is so important for New York.

Workshop B: Understanding Electric Capacity & Calculating Your Charging Needs

This session will teach participants about Transportation Electrification Feasibility Studies (TEFS), the importance of Electrical Capacity, and how to calculate power requirements to support Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging.

Understanding existing site conditions is crucial to building a successful EV Charging Station installation project. It all begins with a TEFS that identifies existing site conditions, available electrical capacity, and parking area. Participants will learn about important site conditions to inspect, the importance of Electrical Capacity, and best practices when installing EV Charging Stations.

The course will go a step further, looking at an internal combustion engine fleet vehicle and walking through the process of replacing the car with an EV, as well as the charging requirements we will need. We will teach participants how to calculate their charging requirements, $/kWh of Levels 1, 2, & 3 EV Charging, and the cost savings realized by participating in Time of Use (TOU) EV Charging Programs.
