Matt Pereira

Founder & CEO
ChargeWonder

Matt Pereira is the CEO and Co-Founder of ChargeWonder, a company focused on bringing ancillary revenue to EV charging station operators through ads and loyalty programs. Specializing in serving ads in charging station apps, and delivering SMS-driven loyalty programs, ChargeWonder uses all of the data signals at our disposal to optimize and personalize the ads that drivers see, making them not just unobtrusive, but desirable and relevant.

ChargeWonder aims to shorten the path to profitability for CPOs, inspiring them to build new hardware and reactivate broken hardware – particularly in disadvantaged communities and charging deserts – giving everyone the confidence to switch to EV driving.

Prior to founding ChargeWonder, Matt’s career in advertising, ad tech, and data science has straddled all sides of the marketing ecosystem. His experiences on the ad agency (Wunderman / Y&R), and client (Procter & Gamble Brand Management) side of the business have equipped him with an authoritative perspective on effective advertising. At Google, he established and led the Ad Personalization Center of Excellence, identifying privacy-safe ways to leverage an array of data signals to generate ads that were attention-grabbing, motivating, and consistently delivered over a 2:1 ROI.

Tackling Operational Challenges: Education and Communication Insights to Help Utilities Best Support Their Customers

As the electrification of fleets increases, utilities are expecting a tremendous amount of load growth on the grid. In talking with several utilities, approximately 85% of the interconnections can move forward to install reliable charging infrastructure. The misconception is that utilities are unable to handle the new load requirements. In actuality, the majority of the connections can be made without hefty infrastructure improvements. In cases of grid congestion, new tools are becoming available to the utility and the customer to manage the load. Namely, these solutions can include site energy efficiency improvements, automated load management, flexible connections, and stationary energy storage.

Discussion topics include:

  • How to engage early with customers to discuss energy solutions that benefit both the customer and the grid and provide regular feedback on energy usage with new EV loads.
  • Effective tools and strategies to communicate energy management solutions clearly and support customer understanding.
  • Prioritize customer education on managing EV charging to avoid peak times and support grid stability.
  • Integrate renewable energy solutions to enhance grid resilience and promote sustainable energy use with EV adoption.
